About me
I'm in my second year as Dean of Students at Gavin South middle School after being in SPED most of my career. I'm originally from the Los Angeles area and have lived in Illinois for almost 18 years. Bears fan, but all of my other teams are LA. I've been married almost 30 years and have two daughters, aged 21 and 18. My older daughter will be graduating from the University of Kentucky in May.
I'm interested in areas of discipline (what works, what doesn't) and also the psychological side of our students (what makes them do the things they do). I feel it's of utmost importance to get to know the kids (especially my frequent fliers) as well as possible so I can better help them. Restorative practices - do you utilize them? Do you find them to be effective? I'm open to any conversation that might make me a more effective Dean and a better asset to our students and staff.
