Laura is a dedicated advocate for children and families with over 30 years of experience across nonprofits, schools, churches, and businesses. After raising her own internationally adopted daughters, she founded iCARE4 Adoptive and Foster Families, and Sequoia Families to support families in Chicago and northern Illinois. Trained in TBRI® and adoption competency, Laura specializes in providing education on best practices for raising and supporting adoptive, foster and kinship children with attachment-based interventions and inclusive strategies in families and educational settings. She has worked with local and national policy makers and leaders in education and trauma including NCFA, NTI/C.A.S.E., IASSW, ISBE, IASB, IPA, DCFS, IDFPR, ICOY, and ICEARY. She has worn many hats: Elementary reading instructor, Substitute teacher, Media and Marketing sales, copywriting and design, and has served on various local committees and boards. Laura and her husband Don are proud parents of four daughters and she channels her personal experience to strengthen support for adoptive, foster, and kinship families. iCARE's mission is for every foster, adoptive and kinship child to have parents, professionals and schools who know how to support them no matter where they live.
