About me
My career spans 24 years or so, with 14 years teaching in high schools (Warren Township, Niles Township) and 10 in middle school. The words "middle school" usually fall on uncomprehending ears, and people generally react in one of three ways: 1. "I could never handle middle schoolers." 2. "Is that, you know, fun?" 3. "At what point did you lose your mind?" Imagine their faces when I say teaching middle school rejuvenated my career, and that I really enjoy this age group. Anyway, I'm passionate about equity and communication, and my work always seems to come back to those two big ideas somehow. As a member of the Leaders for Just Schools (an IEA leadership cohort) I've had opportunities to fight for equitable opportunities for students at District 37, and a constant passion drives what I think I'm best at - teaching writing. I'm looking forward to discussing this new interest - Science of Reading - with colleagues. I am always interested in discussing writing, equity, MTSS, reading, or curriculum.
