Real-Life Vocational Experience: Student-Managed Businesses FULL
Friday February 14, 2025 9:20am - 10:05am CST
This informative session will focus on how to develop student-led businesses that provide real-life, hands on, job skills and promote social awareness among the students’ peers, staff, and community members. By working outside of the classroom setting, students improve their generalization of skills learned in class. We will explore how to start a student managed business from the ground up incorporating real life business practices; from budgeting, shopping for supplies, advertising, customer service, communication skills and more. Mundelein High School has had two different successful business endeavors in the past six years, the MHS Drink Oasis (students making and selling milkshakes and smoothies) and Mustang Mornings (students making and selling frappes, hot coffee, and other beverages to staff).  Presenters will be providing curricular examples and resources participants can use to begin their own vocational classroom business.
